Bar Saddle Bags Should I put a sissy bar on my honda rebel?
Is the bike too small for it to look legit?
I think it would look pretty sweet. It's not for the comfort of a passenger, it's more for the ability to strap a bag onto the bag seat for road trips (because I hate saddle bags and I love the way sissy bars look on choppers - like Peter Fonda's bike in Easy Rider)
Do you think it's worth the effort?
I have a Savage with the stock short sissybar. Made a bracket to slip a 21" Airline Carryon Suitcase onto the sissybar for traveling. Sweet. Stop at a motel, lift the bag off the bike and roll it into the room.
Your Rebel is physically the same size as my Savage, the sissy bar looks GOOD.
EDGE Brackets Quick Release Saddlebag System Installation with Mustang Hard Bags
only in gray. We had an Alpha Omega which I liked except that it takes up a ton of space. The one I have now was my ex's but we switch at some point and when we split I got this one. I want a girly one for my daughter or at least cool colored. Any suggestions? I would like one that is convertible and goes up fairly high in weight. Price isn't too big of an issue since I'm looking early I can save up but I would like something reasonable. Thanks!
Well...
I like the My-Ride by Graco. It faces backwards to 40lbs, then forwards to 65lbs. It has side-impact technology and has cup holders. It doesn't have much padding though, and tends to wiggle from side-to-side. Still, I like it a lot better than the Safety First one we had for a while, and I feel like it's a great car seat for the price.
If you can afford it, the Britax is the most safe-innovative, and I like it as well. First they made side impact, then true side impact which improved the side impact technology, and then the more recent outside-air-bag/cushions that they have on their most recent car seat stops even MORE side impact forces. They have a lock on the seat belt to keep the car seat from wiggling from side to side, and they're far more comfortable as far as cushioning goes. Most go up to 33-35lbs backwards facing, and then to 65 forwards facing. We have the Decathlon and it's a comfortable seat for her, as well as being very safe. But she likes the cup holders in the My-Ride more.
The problem is, with the good seats most are going to take up room these days. With the side-impact, that creates a buffer or impact on the side that protects your baby, and that takes up space. So car seats are becoming a bit wider no matter what you do. The most recent Britax, the Advocate (not cheap) has the outside cushions so if there is a child sitting by the carseat they won't hurt their head on the car seat (the cushions also act as airbags helping with less side-impact so they do help the individual riding as well.)
