What can I use as a substitute for chili peppers?
I'm trying to make bucatini all'amatriciana and the recipe calls for two red chili peppers but i can't find any at my local markets, all i can find is chili powder. What could i use and how much should a i use to substitute 2 chili peppers.
I always sub hot sauce for chili peppers. I don't like things super spicy and this lets you control the heat, if you do want it really hot just add more. For a recipe that calls for two chilies I'd put in a tsp of hot sauce.
Plus hot sauce lasts forever in the fridge so I always have it on hand it saves a trip to the produce stand for chilies
