Why doesn't an Erlenmeyer flask break when going from super hot to super cold?

Yup that's the question.

Well, if you heat it red hot and drop it into liquid nitrogen, it WILL break.
But labware is usually made of borosilicate glass [Pyrex and Kimax are tradenames] which is much better at handling thermal shock than regular silicate glass
