I took a break from lifting and my muscle grew?

I lift weights 4 or 5 times a week, very light- more for tone than bulk. The last week I have been on vacation so needless to say when I picked up the weights again yesterday, I felt lazy. But to my surprise as i began I felt great and today my muscles feel (& look) stronger than they did a week ago, even after a week off.
Did my muscles simply need a break? I cant seem to explain it.

Yes it is possible. Your muscles build when they have a break. So yes.
